About Us

'Ocho' (Spanish for 8 !) is a vocal ensemble which sings an amazing range of repertoire from sacred music, through the romantic victorian era, Gershwin, to modern popular music featuring Billy Joel, Eva Cassidy and even Jessie J ! In order to ensure that we can fulfil all of our engagements, we are actually building an Ocho 'family' of 12 singers. However, you will only ever see 8 sing together ... staying true to the 'Ocho'  creed. The ensemble was formed in 2013 and all of the singers have great experience in choral singing and have come together to produce a unique and beautiful sound. As we say, there may be eight singers , but they blend together to make 'one voice'. Truly ... something for everyone !

The group sings a variety of concerts, some charity events and also likes to test its mettle by entering vocal competitions ........

Soeli Bonham's roots lie in sacred choral music - touring as a RSCM chorister; BBC Choirgirl of the Year Finalist, alongside Katherine Jenkins; and later at Derby Cathedral. Soeli sang under Sir Simon Rattle, having been awarded the prestigious David Clover Scholarship, and has sung for royalty and elected officials in the UK and Europe.

Stuart Hannibal has always loved singing. It all started with a primary school production of 'My Fair Lady' trying to woo Eliza Doolittle 'on the street where you live'. Stuart has performed in Musical theatre in Birmingham, 'crooned' for the Sinatra UK Music Society, and over the last few years he's enjoyed singing with his local Choral Society. He loves to mess around on his piano and has been known to pick up a guitar, but most of all, he just loves to croon...

Tilley Bancroft began her musical life as a violinist, touring internationally when she was as young as 13! She has been a member of various orchestras, string ensembles and groups including Staffordshire Youth Orchestra, Derby Concert Orchestra and local folk groups. Following  a very long break, a move to Burton on Trent from Yorkshire saw Tom take up singing again after his daughter became very involved in music. Tom loves performing with The Mellow Dramatics in Burton on Trent and the sheer joy of singing in harmony and helping contribute to a beautiful sound with choirs and groups is something he would highly recommend!"

Derek Gardner started singing as a 10 year old in a church choir in South Wales. His musical life has varied since then, playing violin, guitar and, more recently, cajon drum. But Derek has always sung ........ you know what they say about Welshmen! He has maintained an interest in choral music singing with Noteable Company, Friday Voices and Choros Amici Chamber Choirs.
